Inspection camera selector

Tell us which installation you inspect, at what distance you work and what you want to find: hot spots, partial discharges or gas leaks. The tool calculates the spatial resolution and thermal sensitivity your objective requires, decides which technology sees each phenomenon —infrared, ultraviolet, ultrasound or optical gas imaging— and proposes the camera, or set of cameras, that meets your specification.

Tick only what your procedure requires: each extra feature narrows the list of cameras. Options that are greyed out are not offered by any camera together with what is already ticked, and they say what is blocking them.

How it selects: in thermography the deciding quantity is spatial resolution: the detail you want to measure must cover at least three detector pixels at the working distance, which gives the maximum admissible IFOV; the thermal sensitivity (NETD) must be ten times smaller than the temperature difference sought. For partial discharges, the deciding factor is where and at what distance: solar-blind ultraviolet sees corona at tens of metres and in full sun; ultrasound classifies the discharge at close range and works indoors. For leaks, it depends on whether you need to see the gas or whether hearing the leak is enough. Among the cameras that cover everything, the one that meets the requirement with just the right lens or option is proposed, and the reason is explained.
